Our five little Denizli chicks are getting dry in the brooder, and are doing happy little chick things: peeping, sleeping, drinking, and figuring out what those crumbles are for – I suspect their tummies will instruct them on that soon enough! I wanted to share some updated photos with you.

I’m really kind of thinking that the last egg might be a dud, because there is a large yellowish-brown spot on one side of it, and I’m wondering if that means that the chick inside of it died. 🙁 I am hoping not, of course, but trying to be realistic. We’ll give it until Day 25 (Saturday), and if it’s just a late hatcher, then it can join its friends in the brooder!
Hatching has been a great experience, and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to do it again. For the time being, I want to focus on the care of our current babies – I really hope that we get some crowing roosters out of this bunch!
